The Manaslu Himalayan Range of western Nepal and is an alternative to the Annapurna circuit trekking. Manaslu circuit trekking is one of the best trekking destinations of great Himalaya trails of the world. Mount Manaslu has a reputation of being the 8th highest peak of the world resides in the Lamjung district of western Nepal. It is one of the noteworthy peaks of western Nepal due to its photogenic beauty and independent existence that make it different from other peaks. Mount Manaslu is one of the sacred Himalayas of Nepal giving the meaning as the mountain of the spirit or soul as locale take this mountain as the residence of Lord Shiva. Mount Manaslu is a notable picturesque Himalayan summit from distant view due to its high beautiful white peaks living in solitary landscape surroundings. Manaslu is a gem among the beautiful Himalayan crest of western Nepal dwelled at Kali Gandaki valley which lies at the east of Annapurna. Being first ascended by Japanese trekkers it is the matter of triumph for Japanese trekkers for their verifiable ascending just as the British have their heart on Everest. There is an axiom for mount Manaslu “due to their daring attempts and ascending the British consider Everest as their mountain; Manaslu has consistently been a Japanese mountain”.
Manaslu circuit trekking is generally a travel activity of three weeks starting from a vehicle ride from Kathmandu to Arughat Bazar, a little town on the bank of Buddhi Gandaki ending at Besi Sahar of Lamjung district of Nepal. This trekking adventure is categorized under the teahouse trek where camps can be used if a traveler doesn’t adjust on local accommodation. This trekking route is based on newly developed Great Himalaya Trail. The trekking route follows the ancient business route of salt traders of Nepal, Tibet and India along the steep road on the banks of Budhi Gandaki River. The travelers pass through the narrow valley until they reach Li village where the views of snow peaks start appearing on the horizon leading the trekking to Lho gaon with an impressive double peak view of Mt. Manaslu above the terrain fields. The travelers will make their way through pinewoods of Syala village dominated by horseshoe-shaped peak around it until they reach Sama gaon on the foothills of Mount Manaslu. After half day walking from the Samagaon village, the travelers will reach a traditional village named as Samdo which is the highest village of Budhi Gandaki valley occupied by Bhotias. The photographic landscapes of Budhi Gandaki valley and Pang Phuchi village on the background of Tibetan border are the witness from this region. Then travelers ascend further uphill to another valley towards the Larkhe La till the highland pasture zone of Bimtang or Bimdakhot at 1500 meters of elevation from where Manaslu is clearly visible. The fascinating landscape views along with encompassing Himalaya peaks of mount Himlung, mount Cheo, and mount Kang Guru and occasional views of the Annapurna massif are encountered during the route from Larkhe La. Manaslu circuit trekking travels through Dudh Khola, a branching canal of Marsyangdi river, Bhulbule, Tarukha Ghat, Chepe Khola, Dorandi Khola ending to Gorkha. During Manaslu circuit trekking the travelers will have clear focal eye views often peaks of 6500m and-7000m height.
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu airport/ Transfer to hotel (1320m/4330ft)
We will meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to the hotel by private coach. After refreshment, we have a meeting at our office and go through the process of equipment checking, discuss the trekking and meet your trekking guide.
Day 02: Sightseeing of Kathmandu
Leave for full-day sightseeing in Kathmandu valley including the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. Also, visit the Monkey Temple Swayambhunath (2000 years old temple) and visit Patan city of fine arts. Back to HOTEL AND stay.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Arughat (570m) drive
Drive from Kathmandu to Arughat and overnight stay in a camp. The drive is about 8hours from Kathmandu to Arughat.
Day 04: Arughat to Soti Khola (710m)
The trek heads for Soti Khola via Sante Bazaar and Budhi Gandaki valley and reaches Koir Pani, a small village of Magar and Gurung. The trail descends to Ahati Khola. There is a small waterfall just above the trail; a larger waterfall with a 60m drop is visible by climbing upstream. This valley is famous for honey.
Day 05: Sati Khola to LabuBesi (880m)
After crossing the bridge, the trek climbs up onto a ridge above the huge rapids of Budhi Gandaki and reaches Khorsaani. Then the trail gets a bit precarious as it passes over a big rock and crosses a stream. The rocky trail then goes up and down through large areas of nettles, passes tropical waterfalls and again returns to the banks of Budhi Gandaki. The trek goes up again on a steep rocky trail, down, then up to the Gurung village of Labu Besi and we rest overnight.
Day 06: LabuBesi to Doban (1000m)
The trek goes to Machha Khola after crossing several streams on the way, onto Doban Khola via Khorlavesi, Tatopani etc.
Day 07: Doban to Jagat (1410m)
The route climbs on a rugged rocky trail to Duman. Then it passes the villages of Yaru Khola and Thado Bharyang, crosses Budhi Gandaki again and climbs over a ridge. We trek along the river for a while and reach the compact village of Jagat at 1410m.
Day 08: Jagat to Ngyak Bensi (2300m)
The day begins by following the river bank again for the first hour up to Ghata Khola. We then cross to the eastern bank before ascending to Philim, one of the few large settlements on this route and home to the Manaslu Conservation Area Project office. From here you can view Mt Lapuchun (5950m). Overnight stay in camp.
Day 09: Ngyak Bensi to Ghap
The trek takes us through a heavily forested area in a narrow valley until we reach the little settlement of Dang. We then cross the Budhi Gandaki River where the valley opens and we begin our ascent to Rana. The trail now takes us high above the river, giving us views of the Manaslu Massif, before descending to Ghap. Overnight at camp.
Day 10: Ghap to Namrung (2660m)
We work through a dense, forested river valley finishing with a 50-minute ascent to Namrung. The campsites here are managed by the Manaslu Conservation Area Project. Overnight at camp.
Day 11: Namrung to Samagaon (3530m)
The trek goes through forests to Samagaon, passing several Buddhist villages along the way. These areas have been influenced by Tibetan culture due to their proximity to Tibet and, as a result, you will find many monasteries, Chortens and mani walls. Having over one hundred and fifty houses, Samagaon is surprisingly large and bustles with the energy of remote village life. From Samagaon you can see Mt Manaslu and the Kutang Himal Massif. Overnight at camp.
Day 12: Rest Day in Samagaon
Spend the day resting, exploring Pungen Gompa or make an excursion to Mt Manaslu Base Camp. Overnight at camp.
Day 13: Samagano to Samdo (3860m)
Trek along the river, before finally ascending to Samdo. Samdo is the site of a Tibetan refugee camp and affords you a rare glimpse into the lifestyle of the Tibetan people. This settlement is along the old salt-trading route with Tibet and is still used today. Overnight at camp.
Day 14: Samdo to Dharmashala/Larkya Rest house (4480m)
The trail rises high above the Larke Khola leading all the way to Dharmashala where it finally meets the river. Overnight at camp.
Day 15: Dharamshala to Bimtang (3720m)
This is a more strenuous day as we have to cross over the Larkya Pass (5213m). The terrain consists of glacial moraine with a lot of scree to scramble up and over. Overnight at camp.
Day 16: Bimtang to Tilje (2300m)
Make a gradual descent through rhododendron and pine forest seeing the north face of Manaslu along the way. We will make camp in the apple orchards of Tilje. Overnight at camp.
Day 17: Tilje to Tal (1700m)
Trek goes along the Dudh Khola, a tributary of the Masryangdi River, before arriving at the confluence in Dharapani. From here we join the Annapurna Circuit route. We will continue on to Tal where the river appears as a lake, and make camp next to a waterfall. Overnight at camp.
Day 18: Tal to Syange (1100m)
Trek goes down to the foothills of the Himalaya, returning to the lush terraced fields and the densely populated Hindu/Gurung villages. Overnight at camp.
Day 19: Syange to Khudi
Trek down to Khudi and overnight at camp.
Day 20: Khudi drive back to Kathmandu
We will drive back to Kathmandu city. You can have the rest of the day for a leisurely walk. In the evening, we will have dinner with a cultural programme.
Day 21: Farewell Departure
We will drop you at the airport for your departure flight.
