Trip Overview

Trek to the Forbidden land, Mustang is the lifelong dream to all the trekkers and tourists of all over the world. Mustang, a small and ancient valley in the Himalayas of Nepal is offering lots of things to the visitors starting from the opportunity to explore the ancient culture and lifestyle to the magnificent views of mountain ranges that will surely charm its visitors. Mustang is a dream destination to the trekkers of the world and is the home of the ancient Tibetan Buddhist religion, a wide variety of landscapes, spectacular view of mountains peaks, unique lifestyle and breathtaking natural scenarios. One can get an opportunity to do the sightseeing and trek along the world’s deepest gorge, Kaligandaki gorge.

Trekking in the Mustang region is a rare privilege. Some of the major attractions of this trek are the sightseeing of ancient Tibetan culture and lifestyle, The Tiji Festival, sightseeing of a wide variety of flora and fauna, opportunity to see the ancient monasteries, gompas and stupas of this forbidden land and the magnificent views of Himalayan ranges that can be easily seen from the forbidden valley. Trekking to Mustang region on the month of May gives you an opportunity to do the sightseeing of the ancient and famous Tiji festival which is one of the biggest festivals of the Mustang region.

Trek to Mustang region starts from Kathmandu with a short flight to Pokhara and then we will fly to Jomsom from Pokhara from where our trek begins. Then we will head to Kagbeni and after a 5-6 hours walk, we will reach Chele village. After that, we will head to Syanbochen, Ghami, Tsarang, Lo-Manthang, Drakmar, Ghiling and finally, we will end our trek at Chhuksang. Then we will be back to Jomsom from Chhuksang and fly back to Pokhara and departure.

 

Outline Itinerary

Day1: Meet and greet at airport, transfer to hotel
Day2: Get permits, trip preparation or visit ancient old temples in Kathmandu.:
Day 3: Fly or drive to Pokhara. Pokhara sightseeing if you take flight
Day 4: Fly to Jomsom (8921ft. 2720m) and trek to Kagbeni (9216ft. 2810m).
Day 5: Trek to Chele (10004ft. 3050m) via Tangbe/Chhusang for lunch.
Day 6: Trek to Gilling (11709ft. 3570m). Explore monasteries and village.
Day 7: Trek to Ghami (3,460m/11,352ft). Explore monasteries and village.
Day 8: Trek to Charanag (11677ft. 3560m). Explore monasteries and village.
Day 9: Trek to Lo Manthang (12,238ft. 3,730m). Visit monasteries, king´s palace, and museum.
Day 10: Excursion Choser village, back to Lo Manthang after visiting monasteries and caves.
Day 11: Trek to Ghargompa, Visit the monastery.
Day 12: Trek to Chele (10004ft. 3050m)
Day 13: Trek to Kagbeni (9216ft. 2810m)
Day 14: Trek to Jomsom:
Day 15: Fly back to Pokhara and sightseeing around Lakeside.
Day 16: Drive to Kathmandu by tourist bus at 7:30 am and transfer to hotel.
